Meet the Principal

Mrs. Ratchford

Nehseem Ratchford is the principal of Lockwood STEAM Academy. Prior to becoming principal, she was a Teacher on Special Assignment at Futures Elementary and Community United Elementary School, where she supported the Lockwood campus for several years by leading staff development, professional learning communities, family/community engagements, along with many other duties. 

Mrs. Ratchford leads Lockwood with 13 years working in education and active involvement with Oakland Unified School District as a teacher, instructional coach, and Assistant Principal at Parker Elementary School. She will use the many administrative, organizational, and leadership skills she has gained throughout the years as she continues to lead the Lockwood community. 

Mrs. Ratchford lives in Oakland with her three children, her husband and dog, Rocky. She enjoys hiking on the weekends and spending time with her family and friends.
